About OTR Bison

The Story Behind OTR Bison

OTR Bison is part of Oklahoma Trophy Ranch, a 3,500-acre property in southeastern Oklahoma where conservation, wildlife management, and American bison work together.

In 2013, we established OTR Ranch as a conservation bank to protect habitat for the endangered American Burying Beetle. As we managed the land, we realized one important piece was missing: grazing.

We could bring in cattle, or we could bring back bison.

The American Burying Beetle and American Bison coexisted for centuries, so bison felt like the right fit. Reintroducing them to this landscape after a 160-year absence allowed us to support our conservation goals while giving this iconic animal a meaningful home again.

A Ranch Built for Conservation

Oklahoma Trophy Ranch sits where the Cross Timbers and Arkansas Valley ecoregions meet, near the intersection of Pontotoc, Coal, and Hughes Counties. Muddy Boggy Creek and Sincere Creek run through the property, creating hardwood bottoms, tallgrass prairies, and rolling hills that support abundant wildlife.

More than 3,000 acres of the ranch are protected by a conservation easement. Our habitat work supports the American Burying Beetle while also benefiting whitetail deer, wild turkey, bobwhite quail, rabbits, squirrels, and many other species.

Healthy Red Meat with a Back Story

We are committed to providing customers with high-quality, healthy red meat raised with care.

Our bison are:

  • 100% grass-fed
  • Pasture-raised
  • Raised without growth hormones
  • Never fed grain with additives
  • Managed as part of a larger conservation effort

We aspire for our herd to remain as close as possible to the bison that once sustained generations of Native tribes. That means respecting the animal, respecting the land, and offering customers lean, flavorful meat connected to a much older American food tradition.

Bring Bison Back to the Table

OTR Bison exists because we believe conservation and food production can work together. The bison help manage the land, the protected habitat supports wildlife, and customers receive healthy red meat from a ranch with real purpose behind it.

Whether you are looking for ground bison, steaks, roasts, burgers, or meat bundles, we make it simple to enjoy high-quality bison meat raised on protected Oklahoma land.
